Clinic Day 3 Jul 2016

Happy Independence Day! Yesterday we saw 38 patients in the clinic at Santa Catarina Barahona. Problems from degenerative arthritis in adults to clubfeet in children were cared for. Multiple knees were injected with steroids. Braces were ordered for some patients and x-rays for others. Some patients will require surgical treatment when we can find an appropriate time and place to perform the procedures. We saw one child in follow-up whom I believe has polymyositis. This is very rare and even more rare in the pediatric population. It is also difficult to treat in a country where finances are limited and access to medical care equally limited. We have started her on steroids (the first line of treatment). If you are reading this blog and want to pray for our efforts, please pray for Nimcy.
